The UVA school year has just begun and we’re incredibly excited to have a new, awesome group of residents. To kick off a great year at The Standard Charlottesville, we have a ton of awesome residence life events to give our residents and their friends the opportunity to meet and mingle with their neighbors and to enjoy spending time in our luxury amenities and beautiful courtyard.
Week 1 – Breakfast On The Go
For our first resident event, we invited our residents to enjoy Breakfast on the Go with Chick-Fil-A chicken biscuits as they passed through our beautiful lobby. We provided 100 biscuits and within an hour they were gone!
Week 2 – Meet The Team
Week two, we held a Meet the Team Tuesday. We wanted to make sure all of new residents go to meet the familiar faces they will see throughout the property and completing work orders. We had our Maintenance Team join us in the Clubroom as residents came down and asked any questions they may have regarding their new home at The Standard. As a treat for attending, we provided yummy pizza from Marco’s!
Week 3 – Yoga On The Rooftop
During our third week of resident events, we had one of our favorite events called Yoga on the Rooftop, where we had a Shannon from Salute the Sun Yoga come to teach a class for FREE to 20 lucky residents. Residents enjoyed learning the benefits of yoga and how it impacts their wellness journey all while enjoying the beautiful view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Shannon will be coming back for sure in future events!
Week 4 – Yappy Hour
For our fourth resident event, we hosted Yappy Hour in the Courtyard. This was huge hit for our Standard pups while they came out and enjoyed Puppuccinos, treats and toys! We know for sure they will be coming back as our pups came back for seconds and thirds!!
Week 5 – Crime Prevention Presentation
Week five, we held a Crime Prevention Presentation for our residents. They were able to take the floor with any questions, concerns or comments regarding crime and safety. Sgt. Rexrode and his service dog Cooper were able to bring smiles to faces while residents asked questions about living alone for the first time. He provided a checklist to our residents with forming good habits regarding your surroundings and how to handle serious situations. Sgt. Rexrode and the University Police Department work very closely with our property to ensure our residents are comfortable in their new homes. We also provided more Marco’s pizza for those in attendance.
Week 6 – Grocery Bingo
Our very last week of our 6-in-6 events, we held Grocery Bingo in our Clubroom and what fun we all had!! Our residents were so excited to try their hand at 9 bingo games to snag some awesome groceries to make themed meals! Taco Tuesday, Pasta Night and Breakfast on the Go were just a few of the great options we had. We will holding another bingo in our near future as this event is always a fan favorite!
Our team has had such an amazing time getting to meet our residents over the past 6 weeks. Here at The Standard at Charlottesville, we strive to create the best experience in the University of Virginia’s off campus housing and hosting a variety of awesome resident events is just one part of achieving that.
